Great Book for New Grads

“As Graduates Prepare For In-person Commencements Are They Prepared For In-Person Work Settings?”

In her blog REUFinder.com Tiffany Reardon provides a plethora of guidance and resources to high school and college students. Whether it be helping finding scholarships, paid research opportunities, or general tips on out of the classroom experiences her blog is a one stop shop for high school and college students. In her book “Rose Colored Lenses: A Survival Guide to Navigating the Workplace,” she goes even further by equipping new high school and college graduates with advice on handling workplace personalities and situations they may encounter in future jobs.

“For a long time, I have shared opportunities with a wide variety of students, not just my own but students from all over the world.  During the pandemic it really dawned on me how little there is for first generation professionals which is why I wrote this book. I have had many readers tell me how helpful my book has been because they have interactions almost identical to those I talk about in my book,” says Reardon, a graduate of San Francisco State University who now works in the College of Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley.

For over twenty years San Mateo resident Tiffany Reardon has worked in higher education to bring more diversity into math and science fields. As a first generation professional and teenage parent Tiffany navigated much unfamiliar territory. She has used her life experiences and interest in writing to support students and inspire others.

“Are you going back into the office after months of working remotely? Do you enjoy your job but sometimes feel like navigating the different personalities is a job in itself? What if you could find a way to find common ground with everyone? In this book, you’ll discover the “how to work with anyone” approach to navigating personalities in the workplace. Part memoir, part survival guide this book offers insight into these different types of people you’ll encounter in the workplace. By understanding how to work with people you can focus less on them and more on you, your role in the organization and your career goals whatever they may be.”
